Well the painters were back this week and will be finished tomorrow. Have manged to get inside and have taken a heap more photos, so I’ll let them do the talking.

The photos don’t really show the paint colour with only the third pic being pretty well close to what the colour actually is. It didn’t look too good the other day and we were worried that it was going to look shitty but after the second coat it looks really good…thank god. We’re nearly there……

No Show…..

Well the painters started 7 days ago and for some reason did not show up at all this past week. It is so frustrating as the house is nearly finished and all we want is to get out of here and into our new home. If they don’t show Monday I am going to paint it myself…haha. In the meantime we have continued packing all our stuff up here and we are nearly ready to go.

Painters Have Started

After a bit of a delay waiting for the painters they have finally started. They should be finished by the end of next week and then, if everything stays on track, it will be about 3 weeks and we’re in. It’s time to start ordering pavers, shed, fencing etc as we’ve been told we can start all that as soon as we want and there’s a fair bit to do so the sooner we start the better. Still no pics but will be able to get some next week.

Nearly There

Well the last 2 days have been very productive. The render has been finished, the stormwater has been laid, the hotwater system has been installed, the tapware, shower heads, basins and toilets have been installed and the shower screens, robes and shelving for the pantry, linen cupboard and laundry cupboard have been measured up and will be ready to be installed in about 2 weeks. All we are waiting on now is the painter, the flooring, rainwater tank to be installed and the appliances to be installed and a few little things to be finshed properly. Kell’s starting to shit herself as it looks like we will be in well before we expected and we still have a heap of stuff to get rid of in the place we’re in now. Will post some more photos when we can get inside to take some…..

Back To Business….

Well Xmas is over for another year and we are already 2 weeks into the New Year. Weren’t expecting too much work to be done over the break but the tiler has now finished and the roller door was installed sometime last week as well as the render being started today. There is a little bit of a problem with the door as the guide for the door sticks out about an inch on one side. When they bricked up the extra bit of wall in the carport for the meter box they didn’t leave enough room for the bracket and guide meaning everything had to be moved about an inch to one side. It is very noticable when you drive up and if you look at the right hand side of the door you can see it sticking out. What to do?..Well we think we may of come up with a solution to the problem. Because the render is only going to be on 2 sides of the carport columns we are thinking about having the inside rendered as well which will hide the roller door guide. Will have to speak to the site supervisor to see what he thinks. Apart from that eveything is back on track and we’re hoping that it won’t be much longer and we will be in.

Merry Xmas…

This will be last post for at least 3 weeks due to everyone having their xmas breaks. The tiler is nearly finished but told us he will be back sometime before New Years to finish off the grouting etc. He’s done an excellent job and we are very happy with our selections. Oh well we hope everyone has a Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year and we’ll be back sometime towards the end of January.

Tiler Has Started

We got a chance to go inside again today as the tiler has started and was there this arvo after work so we got some pics while we had the chance. The tiler is a local bloke and we are lucky that he has started prior to xmas as he said he is flat out at the moment and is getting behind as he is so busy. The tiling should be finished by the end of next week and then everything stops for 4 weeks over the xmas break.

We didn’t get a chance to get any pics of the ensuite as the tiler was working in there getting the base done but we will get some next week and post them then.

Productive Week

Alot has happened this week. The shower surrounds have been done in the main bathroom and ensuite, ready for the tilers (tiles were delivered Thursday). The downpipes were installed Wednesday ready for the stormwater pipes to be laid and we now have a whirlygig on the roof. The electrician has installed all the light fittings/switches, power points and tv/telephone points, so it is all happening again. All the outside light fittings have light globes which is abit weird as they are easy to steal which is exactly what happened the other day. Kell rang the builders the other day and we were told they knock off in 4 weeks time for a month and that they should be close to completion by then so it won’t be too far into the new year before we’re in. We’ll see…..

Not Much Happening…

Well it’s been 9 days since the last post and not alot has been happening. Most of the jobs that were half finished, like the skirting boards and cornice have been finished and the eaves have been started with only about 2 metres worth to go until that is finished (it’s taken them 6 days to get to that stage). You’d think the tradies would stay abit longer to get these jobs finished but instead they’ve gone by 3.30pm most days which is frustrating because we can’t get inside to have a look at things unless they are there. Kell could go around and have a look inside on Mondays but there is never anyone there as they must all be having long weekends every weekend. Oh well we shouldn’t complain as it really hasn’t taken long to get to this stage and we did have the first heatwave ever recorded in November last week with 5 or more days over 35 degrees (the hottest day was 42.1), so I probably wouldn’t want to be working in that heat either.
